I am a graduate of Freeport High School, Freeport, IL...Home of the Pretzels!!! Yes, I said PRETZELS!! It originated from a pretzel factory that boats would stop at on their way down the Pecatonica river right on the outskirts of Freeport. Although I’m 100 miles northwest of Chicago, I am also 15 miles from the border of Wisconson. Chicago pizza beats all else! And, of course, they use Wisconson cheese!
I have a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. I am certified in speech therapy and studied early childhood.
I began my career as a speech therapist in January, 1992. Although speech therapists work in a variety of settings (such as hospitals, nursing homes, private practice, etc), my 25 years of experience has always been in a school setting. I have worked with all ages, ranging from three years to 22. I started working for Brownfield ISD in August, 2012. Currently I serve Bright Beginnings, Colonial Heights, and Brownfield High School.
I am married to a Van Horn native, Victor Munoz. We currently reside in Lubbock. He retired from the public school system after teaching Spanish for 34 years. I have four step children, Tory, Keziah, Lani, and David. We have one granddaughter, Liliana. We have five pets, who rule the roost!! If you know me well, then you know the pets ALMOST outrank the children! Our two dogs, Jake and Duke, are smarter than both my husband and myself, combined; Geppeto, the siamese cat, thinks he’s a dog; Louie, the middle cat, is being trained by my husband to say “Grandpa”; and, Amelia, the baby who was rescued from a car engine, is labeled bossy and sassy. Needless to say, if you come to our house, you WILL leave with hair attached to your clothing!
Life is good!! Any down time, which is not much during the school year, I like to travel to the mountains in New Mexico. I am not a beach person. During the school year, I like to shop on Saturdays and church on Sundays! I love hippos, hedgehogs, elephants, and sloths!
